Vliegent Heart is a 16.5m Lemsteraak from Hoek Design. She is a racing Lemsteraak and was among a few vessels whose design data had been originally analysed through tank testing. Further optimisation came from wind tunnel testing the rigs and she was one of the Lemsteraaken which was designed using VPP software. This was a big step in the design phase of these traditionally built leeboard craft which had originally been used as fishing boats or to transport fish quickly from the fishing grounds to market.
